Alchemy+

Course outline

Alchemy+ is a new series designed for graduates of the Alchemy training to improve their mastery and application of the Alchemy concepts. Each highly practical one-day session will refresh your memory of Alchemy tools and concepts and provide a safe, fun laboratory space to put them into play.

The Alchemy training course is rich and intensive; students rarely take away all of the learning. Nor is it easy to remember to embed and practice everything, back in the day to day of delivering our work.

Learning and development demands regular practice and takes time to integrate. The experiential learning model is continuous and cyclical: we learn a new tool or skill; we debrief; we apply; we learn some more.

Alchemy+ creates a supportive and safe space for you to refresh, test your learning, and get invaluable feedback from experienced practitioners.

Note: The only pre-requisite for Alchemy+ is the Alchemy training course and some of your own experience in front of groups (as a co-facilitator or a solo facilitator).

What to expect

Our first Alchemy+ day is a pilot for the series and will focus on Tricky Situations or ‘Screamers’. Unchecked, ‘screamers’ are the people or situations that can cause damage, distraction and derailment to even the most carefully planned workshop, training or group setting – even for very experienced facilitators. ‘Screamers’ need to be managed and, as the facilitator, you are responsible for everything that goes on in the room.

  • How do you hold the space for the unexpected and unwanted?
  • How do you find the learning in what’s going on, even if you don’t like it, or it makes you feel like you want to scream?
  • How do you manage ‘screamers’ elegantly, so the rest of the room feels held and continues learning?
  • How do you ensure the screamer gets what they need, as much as possible, so that everyone can move on?

In this highly interactive one-day session, you will learn how to increase your range in working with challenging situations as a facilitator. You’ll discover your edges and learn how to step into your authority, and you’ll learn how to create and maintain a space of safety and learning for everyone in the room no matter what is going on.

This first Alchemy+ pilot session is co-facilitated by Lori Shook and Dorothy Atcheson.

Note: In the future you could also be a co-facilitator of an Alchemy+ day, which will supercharge your learning about all things Alchemy.

Fees

This one-day pilot event costs just £225 (ex. VAT) per person.

Register as a pair, using the code PLUSPARTNER, to benefit from a combined discount of £50 (total cost £200 ex. VAT per person).
