Why ORSC Deep Democracy (And Your Vote) Is More Relevant Now Than Ever

19th November 2019 /Posted byNairy

With general elections looming on December the 12th, another opportunity to have your voice heard has arrived.

And how do you feel about it?

Perhaps, like me, you feel there is no perfect (or even remotely satisfactory) party that represents your best interests.

Because we are not just voting for ourselves – we are also voting for the good of the systems we belong in: our families, communities, businesses, country and the world. And frustratingly, the voting decision that seems best for one may not be the same for the others!

ORSC Deep Democracy

In ORSC, we believe in deep democracy, which means that each person represents a voice of the system. When those election results come in, there are no winners and no losers.

Even those who have their chosen party elected will not have all their needs or expectations met.

With millions of voices to account for, this would be an impossible task.

Our country’s fairly recent political past has left a trail of empty promises, resulting in distrust in the integrity of our political parties. This is really frustrating for individuals, businesses and communities who are in desperate need of these changes to actually be made.

The bigger the system, the longer it takes for changes to be evident throughout the system – even when they are implemented. And the smaller an individual voice can feel. But that doesn’t mean each nudge of the ship wheel doesn’t eventually change the course of the ship.

Your vote is so important.

Even if the policies you are voting for don’t get voted in, rest assured you will not be alone with your needs. Future parties may pick up on the growing momentum of your voice and others who share it need you!

Some of us vote on behalf of our marginalised communities. Some of us vote for what’s best for our children, some for our businesses. Some for the environment. Some for our personal interests.

How are you prioritising the subsystems you are a part of using your vote?

Whichever it is, it important that you do vote. But it is important to understand how and why this choice has been made, and to make it consciously and intentionally.

VOTE DECEMBER 12th
